Hello and welcome to Composition! In my classroom, students will be experiencing many different teaching techniques. They will be actively engaging in classroom discussion, group work, and many different types of writing and editing.

We will be covering the four main types of writing along with many creative writing assignments. The four main types of writing include:

•  Narrative
• Persuasive
• Expository
• Descriptive

Along with writing, the students will be actively engaging in the Six Traits of Writing. These are strategies that will be used to strengthen their writing ability. The Six Traits are:

• Ideas and Content
• Conventions
• Organizations
• Voice
• Words Choice
• Sentence Fluency

Throughout the school year, students will also be asked to complete QuickwritesFree Writes.  Quickwrites are a way to build students' confidence, develop fluency, and it brings out the writer in them.  Quickwrites stimulate their thinking to make it easier to "find" the words for their ideas.
